We had to go see 'Iao Valley State Park. Not only was it beautiful, but this area was famous for its battles. As soon as we turned down the road to 'Iao Valley, the combination of cloud cover and jungle foliage dropped the temperature several degrees! Our first sight was this tall but thin waterfall. (Please, click to see the photo full-size.)
As the signs would tell us, the 'Iao Valley was a sacred burial ground to the highest cheifs. I found it even more special that the graves were hidden, so we had to be respectful of where we were at all times.
The Battle of Kepaniwai (damming of the waters) was fought here and was so fierce that the women and children watched from the mountainsides as the bodies piled up and eventually stopped the streams from flowing.

You know when you hold the camera out and take a picture of yourself? We call that the "cheesy picture".
