The Best Summer

Although this summer was drenched in worry and hospital visits, I had not gotten to spend this much time with my mother since we left New Orleans seven years ago. Because of that, this was a very special summer. The children also got to spend time visiting with other family members we don't get to see much.

Avery is my godmother's granddaughter, also Max's godmother's daughter, and Ian's godmother's niece. They are our "godfamily".

Gram was thrilled to finally get out of the hospital, again. And so was Ian.

We decided to book a last minute trip to Gulf Shores and Gram deided to come, too. Starfish goggles were a must this season.

Ian had a showdown with a flock of seagulls. He had a blast running up and down the soft white sand beach!

There were beach babes galore!!!

Gram's favorite were the many pools. She said that she hadn't been swimming in years! The water also relieved the pain in her legs--much better than walking throught the sand with a cane!

We had a wonderful time and everyone agreed that we wished we could have stayed longer.
