Busy, Busy...

Goodness! I've been away from my blog for a very long time now. This summer has been pretty hectic and most of my mind has been on my mother's health. Gram came up on the 21st of this month and is my new project:) I found an oncologist for her here in Austin that picked up her treatment where she left off. I feel really confident about the medical community here. Ian had to go to the ER the night before she came because he hit his mouth and fractured a root! Yuck! Ouch! The ER was empty! We were the only people there. At least my mother shouldn't have to wait hours and hours to be triaged if she should need to go to the hospital.

She lost several days due to serious confusion issues. I started googling all of her medications that she is on looking for an explanation. After speaking to her intern in NO we decided to take her off the Oxycodone. Wow! What a difference. That stuff messes you up! I just don't understand why her doctor would prescribe that to her three months ago before she was in any pain to begin with. It literally dropped her quality of life by about 20%. So now she's lucid and being a fussy patient. She is sick of the finger sticks and insulin injections and all the pills and the aches and swollen ankles. Just tired of being sick. We did go out to lunch on Wednesday after her labs and met up with Kerry. It was nice.

I've set the DVR to record all of her shows; but she watches them with her eyes closed and still has not finished a single one without falling asleep. She did; however, watch "The Chronicles of Narnia" with the boys and loved it--go figure! We need to get her a hobby. She does like having lunch outside and basking in the warm Austin weather.

I'm so glad that she is here now. I don't have to worry so much about if she's ok or not. The boys love it, too. They've been very sweet--helping her and helping around the house more. It's great!

I am glad to see you back on the blog. I have been meaning to email you to get an update on things, as I was concerned when I hadn't "seen" you in such a while. I am glad y'all are settling into a new routine over there.
