Rick Riordan

I'm finally back after a long break from blogging. (There will be more on that later.)

On May 20th Bryce got to meet one of his favorite authors, Rick Riordan. There was a book signing at Barnes & Noble that I took Bryce to expecting a small gathering of prepubescent bookworms. Instead, I found a huge following of all ages anxious to meet the author! He spoke first about how he got started writing his popular book series starting with "The Lightening Thief". It was all made up stories mixing Greek mythology with a modern urban city that he told to his own son. At his son's encouraging, he began to write the stories down.

He asked trivia questions and threw out tee shirts before signing and posing for each fan. The store served themed cupcakes and specialty drinks in their Starbuck's cafe, too. All in all it was a fun afternoon!
